Let the Journey Be Beautiful
Gloria is a recovering overachiever who used to obsess over making, and meticulously executing plans for her life. She lived out her twenties according to the 10-year plan she made when she was 20. Her first memoir, Old Man Loses Horse, is about everything that happened outside of that plan . Born and raised in Shanghai, China, Gloria began writing in 2007 and has contributed to Lean In Shanghai, a major women’s career development community in China. With degrees from The University of Chicago and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Gloria now lives in the greater Seattle area as a data scientist, wife, and stepmom. When she is not writing, you can find her building analytical models, teaching her husband Mandarin, or watching her stepchildren’s stuff while they play soccer .
When an ancient Chinese legend about the aurora borealis failed to predict her destiny, Gloria downloaded a dating app and decided to give computer algorithms a try. One of her first “matches” asked her to fly to San Francisco as his date for his company’s Christmas party. Gloria, a data scientist, analyzed his intentions (and the odds of him being a serial killer) and decided to take a risk. The romantic fling turned into an impossible love she struggled to get over. Her journey took her on dates with a dozen guys before leading to marriage, stepchildren, and a surprising healing from long-buried wounds, the loss of her mother. This memoir is not a typical story of a first-generation immigrant or a woman of color. It appeals across race and gender to anyone who’s grieved a parent’s death, pursued true love, or found healing and belonging in a blended family. Gloria was born and raised in Shanghai, China. She is currently a data scientist, a wife, a stepmother, and a writer living near Seattle, WA. This is the first book in a series .

Farben zur Inspiration
This book is about my journey of becoming a stepmother. I'd like the book cover to be inspiring, interesting and warm. I like including specific objects instead of simple landscapes. Examples I like are "Crying in H Mart" by Michelle Zauner, "All you can ever know" by Nicole Chung, "Between two kingdoms" by Suleika Jaouad, "Stranger care: A Memoir of Loving What Isn't Ours" by Sarah Sentilles Objects & concepts that you can consider including: paper crane (my mother taught me when I was little. also how my 6 y/o stepdaughter and I bonded), Christmas ornament (Christmas 2011 is when I lost my mother and Christmas 2020 is when I felt healed from the love of my stepchidren), heart and flowers (see the beauty of world with my heart instead of my eyes), cross continent (I am from Shanghai, China and now lives in Seattle, WA)
Was vermieden werden soll
Avoid cliche views since the title is a bit cliche Let the Journey Be Beautiful, e.g., a simple long road into the horizon.
