HI I am looking for a cover for my book 'Piggy Monk Square.'
The book was published traditionally by Tindal Street Press, and was shortlisted for the Commonwealth New Writers prize.
Now, the rights have reverted to me and I am bringing it out as an ebook. The original cover is currently still viewable on Amazon but I want a change.
It is a dark and suspenseful novel set in 1970s Liverpool, England - in a world where there is much hostility between the local working class community and the police.
The story is about a 9 year old girl, Rebecca, who likes to play with her friend, in the basement of a derelict house in Liverpool.
She is followed there by a policeman who chases her but falls down the steps and is injured - unable to move. Rebecca doesn't tell anyone or get help for the policeman for fear of getting into trouble. As the story continues the policeman's condition worsens and Rebecca more confused about what to do.
I am very open to ideas. There is one image I was considering which is of the nine year old Rebecca standing in low light - at the top of a basement steps looking down the dark steps where you can see the outline of, or the suggestion of, the injured policeman.
I am very open to other creative ideas. It is very important to me to get the suspense and tension across in the image and I feel it should be a striking image - not pastel or cute.
The text I want on the front cover is Piggy Monk Square by Grace Jolliffe
I also have reviews etc to go on the back cover which I can supply.
