I'd like an e-book and print book cover designed for a romance novel inspired by the style of the 3 sample book covers attached. I like the clean designs of the 'Jill Shalvis' & 'Bella Andre' covers with some white space the best.
I really like how prominent the author name is in the 'Bella Andre' cover. That's what I'm going for.
While I really like the Jill Shalvis cover, her books are a little more light-hearted in tone than mine, so a more 'serious' font for mine would work better (either the Bella Andre or Barbara Freethy fonts would be fine).
I have a number of elements that I'd like included on the cover, which all reference the story in some way. The story is set on a Kentucky thoroughbred farm.
I'd like the background image to be similar to the example I attached, with horses grazing on lush kentucky horse farm paddocks (possibly with fencing) & the white house with spires in the background similar to the image provided (this image is common under horse farms of kentucky in the stock photo sites).
The house is quite important to be included in the background, as it features in the story (though it can be small).
The image sky will need to be darkened a little to suggest late afternoon and a full moon added, to work with the title of the book. The sky not too dark though please, maybe late afternoon or sunset time.
There should be a couple in the foreground, either embracing or kissing.
The woman should preferably have long dark hair, as this is how the character looks in the story
I would prefer the man be taller than her if they are standing.
Title & fonts:
The author name (Alexa Bloom) should be very large and prominent (as big as the Bella Andre one would be great) and larger than the book title which doesn't have to be that big.
The subtitle should read: A Harrison Family Novel or The Harrisons Book 1 (but more prominent than the Barbara Freethy example).
That's about it. Thanks so much for submitting - I'm looking forward to seeing all your wonderful designs!
I'd like to give some extra guidance on text, fonts & font colours.
If you place the author name directly over the book title, I like to see alignment, so that the width of the author name is the same as the width of the title name below.
I also like to see some bright colours in the text as in the examples given. I'd love to see some colour coordination as well.
So for example, if you look at the Jill Shalvis cover, the blue of the author name ties in with the pale blue of the horizon and pale blue of the man's shirt. The green of the book title ties in with the green grass. This designer also tied in the red subtitle: 'A Luck Harbor Novel' with the red on the girl's dress.
If you look at the Bella Andre cover, the designer has used a dark pink in the author name which ties in with the pink flush on the horizon and the pink of the girl's top.
The dark green of the book name ties in with the green of the vineyards & green foliage behind the models in this example.
I also like the dividing line between the author name & book name.
Update #2 Re. Couple:
The hero is the owner of a premier horse training thoroughbred farm in Kentucky. I see him as tall and somewhat commanding (well built if possible, but please no shirtless 'body-building beefcake' types). He wouldn't be 'grungy-looking' or wear a tocque, etc… you get the picture.
The heroine has long dark hair.
They are not teenagers or in their early twenties. More like late twenties to early thirties.
Thanks for all your designs so far.
