The Time Counter is kind of tricky. Think of it as an LED tattoo on
The innermost circle tracks years, of which it starts with 75, but for
the purposes of this image is down to 0.
The second innermost circle is days, of which it starts with 365 but
for the purposes of the image is down to 1.
The third innermost circle is hours, of which it starts with 24,
which for the purposes of the image is down to 2.
The next circle is minutes, of which the counter has 60. In the
image, he would only have about 32 minutes.
The next circle has 60 seconds, of which the counter would have about
45 or so.
So, in all, Tom's counter reads, 1 day, 2 hours, 32 minutes, and 45
seconds. The counter starts with a full circle, and gets smaller as
ticks away. I admit this is a tricky part of the image.
The Cube is simple. About the size of A Rubik's Cube, silver, and
emitting either a green, or silver light.
Tom, I imagine looks a bit like Hugh Jackman, (the image doesn't
necessarily have to be a photo, could be a drawing) but most of his
features are obscured by the play of shadow and light, if that makes
I'm bad at fonts and placements, so I'll leave you creatively inclined
individuals to figure out all that good stuff.
I like the style of Red Rising's back matter page. This quote will go
towards the top of the page besides an author photo, with a blurb to
follow below in the center/ bottom of page.
Top of page excerpt in one color: “I’m going to line up everything
you have ever loved,” Malcolm said. “Every cherished memory you
clung to on those cold dark nights cowering alone, high out of your
mind, gnawing on the barrel of your gun, praying tonight might be the
night you find the strength to pull the trigger and end it. I will
expose every fear you hide in the deepest recesses of your heart. I
will make you face the reality of how much you truly stand to lose.
Then, and only then, when death is no longer the cure for your
I will kill you.”
Middle/bottom of page blurb in a different color:
We tried to kill ourselves. We had the weapons. We had the desire.
Somehow, we failed. Humanity survived.
They called it the Dissolution, but it’s been over two hundred
years and if you ask around, nobody in Unity remembers what all the
fuss was about. What everybody had been so willing to die for.
I don’t, at least. I’ve done my part. Worked Time Vice for the
better part of twenty years putting the bad guys into a Stream dream.
Now I want out.
The numbers on my arm tell me I’ll be dead soon. Less than a day
I can live with that.
What I can’t live with is knowing a Unity Leader helped Malcolm
Wolfe, the man who murdered my wife and a million other innocents,
Finding Malcolm means uncovering secrets that could tear Unity apart
from the inside. But if I don’t stop him, there probably won’t be
a Unity to save anyhow.
Looks like we might get a chance to wipe ourselves out after all.
Now, I just gotta catch him before my numbers catch me.
***Forgot to mention, Tom will be wearing a white or black tshirt and
***Below I've added a Hellboy poster that does a good job of
contrasting the light and darks with the simple complexity I'm aiming
for on this project.***
****I've attached a Bioshock poster as an alternative design lay out
if you'd rather explore that avenue. A couple of elements that might
make that design easier are the cityscape in the background would have
a very large/modern pyramid surrounded by smaller buildings on either
side, a man and a woman falling (like in the image though the woman
wouldn't be wearing a dress). The shadowed figure would more or less
look very similar to the poster.****
Don't hesitate to email me if you have any questions. I love to hear
