We are writing a series of ebooks that we're selling on Kindle. It is a space-opera series aimed at a sci-fi readership.
Was inspiriert Sie und wie stellen Sie sich das Design für Ihr Unternehmen vor?
We need an illustration for the front cover of our sci-fi book. We already have our series logo and type designed, we just need a cool image of spaceships for the cover of the next book in our series. There is a particular battle that takes place on a planet full of river canyons, and there's a story point where a group of personal fighters fly at incredible speed through these canyons in order to get to their target. We were thinking it'd be cool to do an illustration where the ships are flying in formation, and that the BG was motion blurred out behind them due to the speed that they're going. I'll include some reference examples. As far as the ships go, the description of the fighters is essentially this: "JOUSTER CLASS Fighter - named for the fact that this fighter is essentially a cockpit and thrusters mounted to the side of an enormous particle beam cannon. It gives the feeling of a lance being carried by a jousting knight on horseback. This is no sleek manufactured fighter, however. The Jousters were built from components of old asteroid-mining machinery, and kludged together by the people who couldn't afford proper fighters to defend their homeworld. They are not pretty to look at, but the fact that a single blast from that cannon can destroy an enemy ship, shield and all, makes it difficult to argue with." Have fun!
As I stated before, this will only be an ebook, so we don't need spine or back cover work done. We also already have all of our type and our book series logo established, so we're good there, too. The idea of the ships flying through the valley is our primary concept, but we are open to others if a designer has a good idea. This series is a straight-up adaptation of the King Arthur story, but given the Star Wars treatment by setting it in space. It is an ongoing series of novellas following a young Arthur as he is plucked off of the small moon where he was raised in poverty, and saddled with the responsibility of leading the armies of the Brighton Galaxy against an invading alien fleet. There are massive space battles, knights in power armor who wield laser rifles as well as swords, starships, planetary battles, man-made worm-hole gates called "Starbridges," and all kinds of epic space-opera goodness. In this specific novella, the big show-piece scenes involve: 1. A gigantic fleet of ships attacking an orbiting "Star-fortress" in the hopes of killing Arthur and his friends. 2. A massive space battle in orbit above a planet of nothing but rivers and valleys. 3. A ship approaching a space-station that is covered in the power-armor of knights who have been vanquished there. 4. A massive amount of refugee ships all waiting outside of a inoperative stargate, hoping to flee the planet below where a military coup is taking place. So, those are some moments that occur during this particular novella. Of course if anyone has a better idea and wants to chat it over, we are all ears!
