The basic logo idea was provided by a ready-made logo designed by PavkeNS (see attached file Logo-ALPC-CheckMarkIdea). We'd like to change the shape/colour of the check mark and turn the vanilla "bar chart" of the PavkeNS logo into a bar chart made of buildings (see file Logo-ALPC-CheckMark).
In the sample drawing we've made, the very slender, angular check mark (with the bar chart of buildings growing out of it) gets a bit lost -- the bar chart overwhelms the check mark. In any case, we'd like to have a check mark that is more dynamic and curved, such as the hand-drawn one on the right. Also note that the height/width of the bars/bldgs does not have to be as drawn -- they can be adjusted/proportioned along with the check mark so that the whole works together. I have simply done my best to give you an idea of what we are after.
We think that a vibrant, forest-type green check with the bar chart/buildings in various densities of the same blue might be the right colour combination. In any case, think "conservative" and "professional" in terms of colours, to offset (counteract?) the slightly corny logo.
Once we select a short list of Logo designs (hopefully only 1-3) I'll want some business card layouts done. After we've awarded the contest, we will also need basic stationary designed including: letterhead, envelopes, a with compliments card and maybe a variation on the letterhead to be used as a report cover.
