"Cookin' With Grandmas" is a Youtube Show and series of E-Book Cookbooks. In the show, host and creator Erik Kennon travels through Latin America in search of the best Grandma chefs and their secret family recipes. Here is an example episode about Tamales filmed in Central Mexico http://youtu.be/6lp7z1WSABQ?list=UU…fei6ho0lzA
The logo you will design is not just for our viewers and readers, but also for the Hispanic Foods Companies (Mission Tortillas, Herdez Salsas, etc) that we will approach to sponsor our show.
Please keep in mind that our show audience is often young people. We DO NOT want a logo that looks like this one, a stereotypical grandma. http://thumbs.dreamstime.com/x/gran…803815.jpg
We want our logo to be modeled after a woman who’s restaurants we grew up going to. We like her colors, the Mexican blanket feel, and the wave in her hair. We DO NOT want a Grandma with a grey perm.
To be more specific, we are leaning towards the logo being a character of an older woman, late 50s to early 60, who has in her arms a collection of latin ingredients, a cornucopia, you could say. In this collection could be an avocado, a chile pepper, and corn cob, (tortillas, can or bag of beans, tacos, bowl of salsas, etc.) Whatever looks best spilling out of her arms...
The focus should be less on the woman (who is more of a sillouhette based on the woman who we have provided links to) and more on the food. Our real business is to help Hispanic Food Companies to market their products (tortillas, salsas, chips, beans, etc,) through our cookbooks and video cooking tutorials, so the abundance of marketable latin foods should be the focus.
We also like the colors and textures of these Mexican Paper Decorations. Perhaps accented around her could be these semi translucent paper decorations- http://www.amols.com/images/files/p…8JUMBO.jpg
Please keep in mind that we want a logo that captures the latin dynamic. This logo is an interesting challenge because it is about Grandma recipes, BUT the show and cookbook series is young, cool, and hip- NOT "old timey" or vintage feeling.
FINALLY, the show also has a separate channel in Spanish for people outside the US. The title in Spanish “Cocinando Con Abuelas.” If we choose your logo for “Cookin With Grandmas” we will hire you again to do the spanish version and also a background for our Youtube Channel and other branding. There is potential to work together on many other aspects of this brand. This is just the tip of the iceberg.
