Village Seed Solutions helps group and organizations develop and implement their collaborative ideas. We help people and organizations through the process of innovation and bring their ideas into fruition. The name Village Seed is inspired by the proverb, “it takes a village to raise a child”. The word ‘seed’ is an attempt to capture the idea that despite our best efforts, some things are out of our control. Farmers and seed planters know that when they are planting seeds, seeds sometimes germinate and at other times they die. Seeds of change are no different. Sometimes they do not land on fertile ground and we need to get comfortable with the idea that we have loose control of our change interventions.

We would prefer two color combinations. We are looking for a very simple elegant design. FURTHER REQUIREMENTS THE IDEA BEHIND VILLAGE SEED Village Seed was born out of a PhD project aimed at understanding individual, group, organizational or multi-sectoral partnership approaches to change interventions. Although Village Seed is still an evolving concept, which centres around the ideas of innovation, collective intelligence or collective wisdom. We aim to help people, groups and organizations develop collaborative ideas towards deep social innovation. KEYWORDS THAT REPRESENT VILLAGE SEED’S BRAND AND QUALITIES Creative, Sustainable, Resilient, Confident, high-quality, innovative, integrity, respected, trusted. TARGET MARKET We want our logo to capture the attention of private sector and public sector audiences. We are targeting people within these sectors who are forward-thinking and looking for interesting and new ways of approaching business and development. These are the early adopters and innovators of their field. Both genders, 20 - 60 years. LOGO CONCEPT We are not sure if we are going to go with Village Seed or Village Seed Solutions please provide versions of both when submitting designs. This logo will inspire the branding, further development of the identity, and the website of Village Seed or Village Seed Solutions. Overall look of the logo: Simple, clean, clear, fresh, modern, bold, and professional. PLEASE AVOID logos that are too corporate, sharp, or harsh-looking. We are not a landscaping company so PLEASE AVOID emphasis on the concept of gardening. If you are going to use the seed in the logo please make it subtle and try to incorporate it into the word mark. We do not want an abstract mark but creative designers may change our minds. PLEASE AVOID people holding hands, PLEASE AVOID buildings, houses etc... that make us look like a construction company. We are not a construction company. If possible, please try to incorporate the dandelion into the logo, but again we are looking for something subtle and simple. If you are going to go for an abstract mark or pictorial mark please remember to keep it simple, clean and subtle. We are looking for a powerful brand that reflects innovation. LOGO ELEMENTS The text and icon (if you choose to include one) should be able to work independently and together - with or without the slogan. Please note that we would prefer no icon, but good designers may change our mind. (a) Text Village Seed will be the text in the logo used to represent our company name. Please try to show us versions of your design with Village Seed Solutions as we are not sure which we would like to go with. No preference for only upper or lowercase letters only or a mix of both. (b) Icon If you choose to incorporate an icon (this is up to you) represent innovation and maybe a seed. PLEASE AVOID avoid using icon representation of a the village metaphor. (c) Slogan Our slogan is, “incubating collaborative ideas”. No preference for all upper or lowercase letters or all beginning with an uppercase letter. We liked (but are not partial to) logos that separated the slogan with a line (http://www.pagelines.com/demos/platformpro/) or with grey shading (http://www.ted.com/). LOGO USES Website (header and throughout), business cards, banners, decals, presentation slides, t-shirts, video productions, etc. LOGO FILE SPECIFICATIONS Transparent background Variations of the finished work: Black-and-white, greyscale, colour Possible element combinations of the finished work for various logo uses (see above): Text only, icon only (if used), text+icon, text+icon+slogan Favicon required. Formats of the finished work: High- and low- resolution in both PNG and EPS vector file with all fonts used. Also, raw .eps and .ai files. Please provide color specifications using Pantone Color Standards. LOGOS WE LIKE... We like the following logos because we feel they represent what we are looking for (i.e., simple, clean, clear, fresh, classic and professional): http://www.futurelab.net/ we love how simple this logo is. It is powerful and still says innovation. http://www.dgree.org/sign-up/ - We also like the colour combination - it is clean and modern - yet also says trendy and forward-thinking. Please do not use the light bulb in your logo designs. (see Slogan section above). http://www.changelabs.net/ Feel free to experiment with this format using Village Seed or Village Seed Solutions, we would love to see a logo that is similar to this one. http://www.dokix.com/ is a great logo and we simply love it. CONTEST NOTES We understand that the design of our logo is an evolutionary process and that prompt feedback is extremely important. We are dedicated to providing you with daily feedback. In the spirit of a contest, which often has unexpected twists and turns, we would like to pose a design challenge (if you’re up for it!): Create two logos. Design 1: Based on our “further requirements”. Design 2: Created solely from your creative juices! People think they know what they want, but often times they don’t until they see it. Designers may find it stifling to work with many constraints. Design 2 is meant for you to showcase ideas that may not follow our “requirements”, but you still think we may like based on our business description only. NOTE: Designers who do not want to participate in the challenge are still MORE THAN WELCOME to submit their designs based on our requirements.
