ATTENTION ALL DESIGNERS!!!!
Thank you all for your entries so far. It has been a long and exhausting week. There have been many fantastic entries and I am very impressed with the talent shown. We are getting close to the finish but there is still time to submit a new concept that could win. I am also prepared to extend the contest if I need to. Over the weekend I received feedback from friends & family, colleagues and most importantly my customers and the results showed me that the simple, beautiful logos were by far the most popular. Designs that incorporate Australia in a clever way ( like the Yoga Australia Logo ) rated highly. I was disappointed that my "heart in a log" concept rated so poorly, as most felt it too harsh and made them think of trees being logged. Please use the remaining time well and I will try to work with each and every one of you until the last minute. A logo that can also be brought to life by overlaying real wood grain would also be good for our business cards and our new website. See and experiment with examples of beautiful wood grain at http://woodalchemy.com/woods . The winning Logo for my last contest did this very well https://99designs.com/logo-design/c Thanks again and I look forward to seeing more amazing entries.
I need a logo that is beautiful to look at. That is also clever, unique, simple and memorable.
NEGATIVE SPACE LOGOS - See the Yoga Australia Logo at
Please research negative space and find inspiration from this style/technique and incorporate it into your own unique designs.
A negative space logo will also be ideal for branding/burning into our wood products (very important).
Incorporate one or multiple symbols into your designs.
"The Wood Life" is a play on the phrase "The GOOD Life" so if you are able to tie that in that would be amazing.
My initial brief focused on developing a concept inspired by a photo at the following link: http://www.dragonflypoet.wordpress.com/2009/09/
Scroll down to the second image and see the heart cut into a log. A heart is one of many symbols for "Life" and I see this has potential. This concept was outlined as the main objective in my initial brief and I am still open to it if you feel you can really execute it well but I would like to see other fresh ideas too.
As far as fonts go I am undecided.
I am leaning towards Papyrus. You can stop laughing, I know it is probably the most overused font in the world but even after searching through hundreds of different fonts I keep coming back to Papyrus as it is suits my company overall image e.g. Environmentally friendly, handcrafted products, nature etc.
If you have alternative font suggestions that is great as Papyrus can be difficult to read at a distance.
Any questions feel free to ask. Good Luck!
