A neutral tree design, in a calm welcoming shade of blue, evokes feelings of trust and positivity, and I chose a flexible one color design so it will work on all background shades. The logo is simple enough to be read at small sizes, and visually pleasant enough to be made into large signage.")

I chose an abstract wave, inspired by Polynesian art, with bold attention-grabbing colors. It added visual movement to the top of the shoe, and accentuated the flow shown in the sole cut outs.")

The map had to be reasonably accurate yet still have a hint of style reflecting the period the book is set in (1500s). Buildings representing several towns the protagonist visited needed to be included, and they had to be correct for c.1500.
Note: this was an initial run-through of the map. A later iteration had details added to Ireland, and some design tweaks.")

I desaturated the image, blurred the background and some of the foreground to match how vintage lenses worked, and digitally painted areas to match similar photos from the era he wanted.")

I used the state outline as a starting point, drawing an abstract landscape representing Nevada, the landscapes and players in the sustainability field (urban, forestry, water sources, farming, mountains and tourism).")

I painted over about 50% of the photo with solid colors (reducing the gradients across areas) and ran a PSD filter over the remainder to soften it. The text was given a flowing layout to mimic movement in the wind, and the font was drawn over with a cloud-like wispy brush.")

AI was used to get the lighting reference for the dog standing in grass with a tutu on. No AI was used in the actual illustration work. The brick wall is mismatched and uneven as the reference wall was *very* old and had repaired areas, plus areas where bricks had collapsed and chipped badly.")

"I'm surprised by the low the rating, the lowest I've ever had on here.
Working with images where sometimes the faces are barely visible, I think I've done a really good job. I've always been available for further editing at no cost and am always open to client suggestions."
