We want to create Snapchat geofilters to use in the areas around our Oakland & Melbourne offices! We will be selecting two winning designers, one prize per design.
Geofilters are static overlays that Snapchat users can apply to their photos (not the facial recognition filters). Since the filters are going to be stamped over people’s faces, compositionally they should be optimized to work with selfies behind them. The design should NOT take up the entire screen - only a portion. Transparent space is GOOD! Consider having your design take up only 25% of the screen.
Some ideas we’ve had for the imagery (though we’d love to see your personal spin on them!) Show us some variety!
1.Recreate an iconic artwork, but in a totally different style to represent how you see design:
-Illustrate your own version of Munch’s “The Scream” with a space for users to put their faces in
-Recreate Grant Wood’s “American Gothic” as retro, pop, or any other style you enjoy
-Reimagine Magritte's "Son of Man"
2.Location-specific
-Melbourne: A kangaroo with a space for your face in the kangaroo pouch, or a koala climbing on the user
-Oakland: We really like the Warriors, tech startups and the word hella.
The best filters will be those that work around the shape of the human face and represent the spirit of 99designs - playful, quirky and celebratory of beautiful & practical design. The design must be appropriate for an audience of all ages.
The design must include our 99designs logo or wordmark - AI & PSD files of our logo are attached, as well as list of brand colors. Feel free to change the color of the logo to better match your creative.
Specs & requirements:
-File should be 1080 wide x 1920 tall web-optimized .PNG image with a transparent background
-Use brand typography for any text. Larseitt is our headline font, Atlas Grotesk is our text font, and Georgia Italic is for interjections and designer attribution.
